In search of self-

In the journey of knowing our ‘Self’, it is very important to think about the ‘Turning points’ in our lives.
As the name suggests, ‘Turning Point’, turns the direction of our lives. Life is never the same after that.
‘Turning Points’ can be minor or major events of our lives, decisions we make, or people we meet.
They can be positive or negative, planned or unplanned, sudden or gradual.
Can you think about some ‘Turning Points’ in your life and their impact on your life?

"I AM" STORY, TURNING THE PAGE .................................

Many of us might have felt that there is something in this “I AM” story that requires a restart, or a new direction or an entirely new beginning.
Every single day we all are trying our best to perform our different roles, execute our duties, and fulfill our obligations & expectations; both expectations of others and the ones that we have set for ourselves.
In this process some of us may lose contact with our inner self.
Now, to change that something in our “I AM” story, the first step we can take is to find a way to get in touch with “our self.”
We can start with a very simple exercise.
Let us think about all the things which “we like to do”, “we like to experience”, and “we like to feel.”
In the process of finding those things many other things may surface which we ‘should’ or we ‘have to do’, ‘feel’ or ‘experience.’
So, for some of us this exploration may not be easy.
It may be possible that some of us may not even find any difference in what ‘we should do’ and in ‘what we like to do.’ That is fine as long as we are contented with our ‘I AM.”
Let us now make a list of all those things and pick one thing at a time and think about it. After we have finished the whole list, let us select that one thing which we can do easily and there is no apparent aim and expectation to do that.
It may be as simple as-- to wear our beautiful dress which we think we should wear only on a special occasion, or listen to a special song which is close to our heart, or may visit or call a special friend with whom we could be we, or paint or sing or write or cook or do anything because we like to do that.
We all have our wish lists. We just don’t find time to look at it and read it carefully.
Tomorrow is a special day! Let us allow ourselves to experience the contentment of doing one thing which we really like to do.
Let us cross our boundaries of ‘expectations’, ‘should’ and ‘have to’ and connect with ourselves.
Still not able to decide to take the challenge?
Stand in front of a mirror, look into your eyes. You may find someone very close to your heart, waiting for your attention and care.

IN SEARCH OF SELF.............................

“I AM”= How I define myself
“I AM” - these two powerful words, and what we write after these determine our today and tomorrow.
Our “I AM” develops in early stages of our lives. These are influenced by our childhood experiences and how others evaluated us.
“I AM” of our children will develop in the same way as above. We can help shape the “I AM” of our children by taking care how we speak to them and how we evaluate them. We can also make sure that they get enriched environment so that they have more positive experiences.
What about us? What if I am not that satisfied with what I wrote after my “I AM?”
Am I stuck up with my “I AM?”
I cannot go back in life and change my childhood experiences or the evaluations of others about me. Yes I cannot change my past. It does not exist anymore.
But I can change my “I AM”, I can un-trap myself from my “I AM”. We all can do that.
Now we are the writers of our stories. We can give our stories a new turn.
